Very nice work here. Only thing I could nitpick is that they all seems to be variations of the same color, unless that was intention in which case never mind. I like the updated design of the armor too.
Wow. You really did get the sense of scale down. I guess if you're going to work with the Celestials that's essential, isn't it?
It's a bit different from most depictions I've seen of them. Most artists have hewed pretty close to Kirby's original style when depicting the Celestials, sort of a weird blend of classical Greco-Roman heroic art & Chiaroscuro. I thought Romita did a damn fine job of translating that into a more modern aesthetic. This, on the other hand is something else entirely.
The colours aren't nearly as loud as they usually are, either. Everything's very subdued. I guess in Kirby's day it was necessary, given the limitations of the medium at the time & Romita kind of carried it over, maybe trying to be faithful to the original. This is much more inline with the current Marvel look. Not sure if I like that or not, though. In the more recent Eternals title I liked how all the Kirbyesque flourishes clashed with the modern stuff, because it gave them a sense of otherworldliness. But then again, this wasn't for an Eternals book, so maybe it is best this way.
I know I'm really in no position to criticize. You're a professional & I'm...well, I'm pretty worthless, really. Anyway, it is nice to see the big guys again. They're some of my favourite Marvel characters.
All you thoughts mind! And thanks for expression you opinion on my work. I tried to update the characters a bit cause I felt the sticking to the original concepts (lines and color) would look a bit out of the place. Like you said..some people will like it...some other don't. But it in the end I think you can still look at the and say "hey...those are The Clestials!"
